In 2006 and 2007, herbalists, herb enthusiasts, the natural products industry, herbal educators, and lovers of herbal medicines from all walks of life and all over the country celebrated the importance of botanicals in human health. HerbDay was inspired and organized by the HerbDay Coalition, a coalition of non-profit herbal organizations whose missions are dedicated to herbal education, research, quality control, and plant preservation, and the responsible use of herbs in human health. HerbDay consisted of local herbal events that took place throughout the nation in health food stores, botanical gardens, schools, and garden nurseries, and included a two-day event at the US Botanical Garden in Washington, DC.
The date for HerbDay 2008 is Saturday, October 11 — and in future, HerbDay will always fall on the second Saturday in October.
The HerbDay Coalition is encouraging the herbal community to join in this celebratory event and participate through lectures, herb walks, herbal medicine making, book signings, product discounts, and any other way imaginable. Many stores will be HerbDay hosts! HerbDay is for everyone everywhere who wants to join in the celebration of what plants bring to human health. It is our day to honor the plants in a special way and tell the good news about botanical medicines!
Mark your calendars, and think about how you can organize an HerbDay celebration. It will be an awesome and historic event to celebrate the many uses of plants in our lives, the lives of our children, and the lives of future generations. Join the HerbDay Celebration!
