HerbDay is being celebrated across the nation, and is spreading to other countries, with a wide variety of events. Each event is unique, but united in that people everywhere recognize the importance and value that herbs bring to their lives — better health, better food, and their natural beauty.

 

New HerbDay Events are being added every day, so if you don't see your community now, come back again later. Also, note that many folks are already celebrating HerbDay, while others will celebrate all month long!

Aveda Salons & Spas 

The Aveda Institute will participate in the events at the United States Botanical Gardens in Washington DC on Saturday, Oct. 14.  Come by and smell the natural plant aromas that Aveda uses as functional fragrances in products; fragrant samples of various products, including Comforting Tea, will be provided. We will also hold a public event at our headquarters near Minneapolis from 11 am–1 pm on Friday, October 13. Educational information, product samples and tasty herbal treats will be available.  And many individual Aveda Salons will participate in HerbDay in local regions. To educate the public about safe and responsible herbal supplement use, Nature’s Resource has launched an interactive, online version of its unique Herbal ABCs extended safety label at www.HerbalABCs.com. Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers

Vitamin Cottage will participate in this national event by offering samples of botanical seed packets to our customers and current information on botanicals. We also offer a drawing in our near Denver stores, on October 14th, for a free Herb Walk guided by Diana Dummer, Master Herbalist with the Front Range Herbal Institute.  The Guided Walk Tour (Retail Value $100 per person) will take place on Oct. 21 through Red Rocks Park in Morrison.

What:                Roots Market will sponsor a week-long HerbDay celebration, starting on October 9th with a special presentation on medicinal herbs and ethnobotany of the Amazon Rainforest. This free event, co-sponsored by Tai Sophia Institute for the Healing Arts, will be held at Great Sage Restaurant on October 9th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The seminar will feature a slide show presentation on medicinal, shamanic, decorative and utilitarian uses of native Amazon plants, the indigenous people and their culture, and conservation efforts. In addition, Jim Duke, world-renowned herbalist and former USDA botanist, is anticipated to make an appearance. On Saturday, October 14th, the festivities will continue with local herbalists demonstrating cooking with herbs and making homemade herbal body care.

Throughout the week we will have numerous herbal supplement and body care companies providing in-store product demonstrations, offering free samples and mini-consultations. Some of the vendors in attendance will be: Pangea Organics, Gaia Garden Herbals, Flora Health, Quantum Herbal Products, and Keys Soap to name a few. Tai Sophia Institute of the Healing Arts will also be present; with students and graduates promoting their Masters in Herbal Medicine program.
